From your first contact with Horizon to ongoing matched support — every step is structured, transparent, and designed to reduce uncertainty for your family.
A free 30-minute call with a Horizon coordinator. No forms to fill in first. No assessment criteria to meet.
This is a conversation, not a screening. We want to understand your child — how they communicate, what the current situation is, what's been tried, and what you need support to achieve.
We'll also be honest if Horizon isn't the right fit. We won't match a child to support that isn't appropriate for their needs.
After the call, you'll receive a brief written summary of what we discussed and a clear recommendation for next steps — whether that's proceeding with Horizon or signposting to more appropriate support.
If we're the right fit, we build a detailed profile of your child. This takes precedence over everything else — no match is made without it.
We identify which of our two support tiers is most appropriate — Standard (academic-led) or Enhanced (regulation-first) — based on the profile, not on what's most available.
We then identify one or two practitioners whose experience, approach, and availability align with your child's profile. You'll receive a brief overview of the recommended practitioner before anything proceeds.
If we don't have a suitable match, we'll tell you honestly rather than make an inappropriate placement.
Before a programme begins, your matched specialist meets your child in a low-pressure introductory session.
This is covered by the £100 registration fee, which also includes the readiness consultation and profile-building process. If no suitable match can be found, the registration fee is fully refunded.
The introductory session is not an assessment. It is a chance for the practitioner and child to meet, for the specialist to observe the child in a learning context, and for you to observe the interaction.
If the match doesn't feel right for any reason — from either side — we rematch. There is no charge for a second introductory session.
Parents are always welcome to be present for introductory sessions, particularly for Enhanced tier support where relationship-building is a primary focus.
Sessions are invoiced per block. Payment is due before the block begins.
Once the introductory session confirms the match, support moves into a structured six-session programme.
Sessions are booked in blocks aligned to school terms. This provides consistency and routine — both of which matter significantly for children with SEND.
After each session your practitioner provides a brief written summary of what was covered and any observations. At the end of each block, a fuller progress summary is shared with you.
You are never locked in. At the end of each block, you can renew, pause, or exit cleanly. There are no long-term contracts.
Both tiers use specialist practitioners. The difference is in the starting point — and what the child needs before learning can begin.
For children who are ready to engage with structured academic work, but need a practitioner who genuinely understands their SEND profile — not one who is adapting a mainstream teaching approach on the fly.
For children where relationship and co-regulation must come before academic work can begin. Particularly suited to children in specialist provision, those who are out of school, or those with significant demand avoidance, anxiety, or complex presentations.
Not sure which tier is appropriate? The readiness consultation will help us recommend the right starting point.
